This year has been....challenging.
There has been death of friends, family and pets, illness, divorce of friends, and for me a life of singleness through a deployment, hectic work schedules and a TDY (temporary duty). To say it has been a struggle would be an understatement.
I pledged to start reading through the Bible this year chronologically and what I have discovered so far is that believers are constantly challenged. What sets them apart is their willingness to say "Just give me Jesus!"
In my daily struggle to manage two boys, it is a battle to say "Just give me Jesus" when I really want to just say "I give up."
But over and over again, God has given me small glimpses of his goodness that are hard to pass up. I know there is hope. I know there is a future. I know this is all for a reason. I have seen it in small doses. Don't give up. "Just give me Jesus."
People don't often understand the struggle of a military spouse. Your life is to serve your husband. You are asked to pick up and move on a whim. You are asked to start over every three years. You are asked to grin and bear months of separation. You are asked to see your kids miss their father...even when he is home. You are asked to be a constant GIVER. There is simply no room for selfish ambition in the military life. The more I live this life, I realize more and more it's just not about me. (Just like Jesus served us...hmm..."Give me Jesus.")
Just this last week, our third FAIP friend from Sheppard was in a plane crash and didn't survive. He left behind a beautifully pregnant wife, only three weeks away from giving birth. She is not the first military wife to lose a husband, nor will she be the last. Our husbands have chosen this life for us-because you can't choose who you fall in love with. As I read in another blog "The military member volunteers, the families get drafted." Everyday, you just have to say "Just give me Jesus."
In this business, there is no time to be angry. There is no time to be selfish. There is only time to love, give, and serve. Hold the ones you love tight, love furiously when you can, and pray with abandon when they are away. "Just give me Jesus."
